Varsity Lakes parkrun

Another week and time for Australia 5km parkrun number 8. This one had been selected so that Darren had the potential to get a V for the alphabet challenge if he joined us.

We arrived nice and early and eventually saw where we needed to go. To our surprise Robbie (from dinner) joined us. This was very convenient as it meant we had somebody to take the necessary Selfie frame pictures.

Rory and his v1000 shirt got a mention during the run brief which Rory still finds very odd. A quick stroll/roll to the start line and we were off. The course is an almost flat “T” shaped double out and back along the edge of the lake. As we were on Tail duties, Rory had yet another custom hi-viz top

As the event is in the middle of a housing area it highlights one of the big differences in Australian course layout compared with the UK as a fair proportion of the route is only separated by a grass verge.

It will come as no surprise to know that we went for some faffing after we had finished.
